Part 1
27 September, 2007
These are four text “illuminations”. This has been a popular art form since poetry was first written down — many a monk, scholar, artist, fellow poet and/or avid reader have spent time illustrating to better understand the sentiment behind work. I find doing this forces me to slow down and really chew on the words. Not to mention, as I’m hardly a drawist, it’s allowed me to expand my horizons and find the FUN in sketching!
This is a small portion of a larger project that I’ll be working on all semester.
The text is “The Descent of Alette” by Alice Notely.
The pages illuminated in this post are: 3, 21, 93 and 105.
