“Camping in St. Augustine”
Oldest city, Fountain of Youth still elusive old. Horse drawn carriages carry glitter hooves. Canvas walls, rain falling on blue and white Coleman costly canvas. Checkered yellow plastic table cloth table damp for eating peeling BBQ shrimp. Oak tree fire burning blue and red hard to keep lit hot. Saw Palmettos in the shadows of the lights of night look like African bush. Photos of Pleiades taken between forecasted cloud bursts blown. A vest man plays the violin alley smiling. Banana spider webs woven between trees make explorers careful. Fear faced in legs when eyes close. Frogs sleep in Coontie berries red with Skinks. Pecans like gunshots when cars hit. Acorns fall at Zero Mile by Spanish fountain. Plastic fruit at roadside robbery road missed. Jesus on a palm tree on I-95, Jesus on license plate at Taco Bell. Oyster wall, Coquina rock, Datil pepper alligators farm. Telephoto evenings expose dappled sunlight morning warmth. Homes of dreams turn the century. Wind sends leaves and owls. Arms of present hold tight the light. Mahi moments move beyond drawbridge Yellow Fever cemetery symmetry. Faces faced with campfire breath. River sunset with Cannondale chatty campers. Ticks and bird calls on poster posted. A boxer named Wizard with big paws eyes from Daytona. Friends find no fallacy in fire. Birds booze in budding blossoms. Breeze brushes hair on end beauty. Patient purpose life moves slow clockless sweet.
