after ‘Crisco’

Crisco by Marilyn Minter

The above image is a 37″ x 40″ photograph by Marilyn Minter entitled “Crisco.

I’ve written the piece below in response to this image.

after Crisco

the scent of musk
closed eyes
from buzzing mind
glass tears ripping
holes in retina

life grinding you
evolve or expire
stage sweat
lucite heels
you’re painting
toes up in air
sliding
slowly
into focus

filament of flesh
vaseline fahrenheit
you give dream jobs
for blow
blow jobs
for cash
stuffed in holes
by fingers stained
and chewed

pole spinning tanned
your ass is art
fantasy fantastic
sweet feline
you honey coated beast
of pounding bass

drive your engine to
the end of lights
end of stage
balance the pony
until you don’t see
anything but angels
